Introduction

As human eyes are very precious organs, special care should be adopted while reading for a long time specially for the students.This project aims for an advanced eye friendly and eco friendly table lamp. By taking the help of modern engineering and technology we are trying to design a table lamp which will serve the students where electricity is not available. This Advanced eye friendly and eco friendly table lamp project is designed to help the readers.

Components Description

Resistor

A resistor restricts the flow of current. The resistors used here are carbon film and quarter watt type.

Capacitor

A capacitor stores electric charge. Capacitor used here is 0.01 µF and it is a mica type.

LED (Light Emitting Diode)

It is a transducer which converts electrical energy into light energy.

Diode 1N4007

These are general purpose diodes. These diodes have high current capability and low forward voltage drop. The average rectified output current is one ampere.

Solar cell  

A solar cell (also called a photovoltaic cell) is an electrical device that converts the energy of light directly into electricity by the photovoltaic effect. It is a form of photoelectric cell, defined as a device whose electrical characteristics e.g. current, voltage, or resistance vary when exposed to light. Cells can be described as photovoltaic even when the light source is not necessarily the sunlight. Photons in sunlight hit the solar panel and are absorbed by semiconducting materials, such as silicon or germanium. Electrons are excited from their current molecular/atomic orbital. Once excited an electron can either dissipate the energy as heat and return to its orbital or travel through the cell until it reaches an electrode. Current flows through the material to cancel the potential and this electricity is captured for our use.

Working

This project consumes power from solar energy and the yellow colour LED bulb consumes less electricity than conventional filament bulbs. It has also a provision to adjust the brightness of light through the controller. As it is a warm light, its rays gives comfort reading experience as compared to the bright lights with blue rays emission. A dim lamp is responsible to enlarge the pupil diameter more, on the other hand a lamp with too much brightness is responsible to contract the pupil diameter. In both the cases, an eye fatigue is occurred. So, a lamp with adjustable brightness which is equivalent to natural day light is preferred for study at night. Experts suggest a lamp with 4000K to 6500K. The lamp should be around 450lm. Lumens measure how much light we are getting from a bulb. The natural sunlight has a Kelvin temperature of 5000 degree Kelvin.

Construction

The connection is provided to the bulb from power bank through the controller. The project is assembled on the board according to the circuit diagram.

  2. It is receiving its power from solar energy so it is clean cheap and effective.
  3. This lamp is portable and easy to operate.
  4. It helps the students to study at night where electricity is not available.
